The Price of Sand Castings
Sand castings include gray iron, ductile iron, cast steel and aluminum castings. According to the different foundry processes, materials, unit weight, complexity and machining requirements, their prices will be very different.
Let us list an approximate price range for these situations, and hope it could be helpful to buyers to make an cost evaluation and estimation. All the following prices per kg will be ex-factory costs exclusive of packing, painting, heat treatment and inland transportation costs.
1. Gray iron castings by green sand, manual or automatic molding:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.27 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 1.59 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.23 USD/kg.
2. Gray iron castings by resin sand:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.43 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 1.75 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.39 USD/kg.
3. Gray iron castings by shell molding process:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.59 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 1.91 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.55 USD/kg.
4. Ductile iron (SG iron) castings by green sand:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.43 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 1.75 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.39 USD/kg.
5. Ductile iron (SG iron) castings by resin sand:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.59 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 1.91 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.55 USD/kg.
6. Ductile iron (SG iron) castings by shell molding:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.75 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 2.07 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.71 USD/kg.
7. Carbon steel castings by dry sand:
a) Raw castings without machining: 1.51 USD/kg.
b) Finished castings with simple or rough machining: 1.83 USD/kg.
c) Finished castings with high precision machining: 2.47 USD/kg.
The above prices are just a normal prices for unit weight from 2kg to 1500kg. If the castings are smaller, more complex, or have high requirements to materials and machining, then the prices will be higher. Moreover, the annual demand will also affect the prices.
